Program Overview

Introduction to the Biosystems Engineering Program

The Biosystems Engineering program at Seoul National University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the principles and applications of biosystems engineering. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions in the field of biosystems engineering.

Program Structure

The program is structured into two tracks: Track A (Physics-based) and Track B (Biology and Chemistry-based). Students are required to choose a track at the end of their second year and follow the corresponding curriculum.

  • Track A (Physics-based):
    • Focuses on the application of physical principles to biosystems engineering
    • Includes courses in computer programming, applied mathematics, and physics
  • Track B (Biology and Chemistry-based):
    • Focuses on the application of biological and chemical principles to biosystems engineering
    • Includes courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry

Curriculum

The curriculum for each track is as follows:

Track A (Physics-based)

Year/Semester 1st Semester 2nd Semester
2nd Year Computer Programming, Applied Mathematics, Physics Applied Mathematics, Physics, Biology
3rd Year Agricultural AI, Biosystems Engineering, Experimental Design Statistics, Electronics, Agricultural Machinery
4th Year Biosystems Engineering Practice, Microprocessor Applications, Biosystems Control Biosystems Engineering Seminar, Post-Harvest Processing, Geospatial Information Systems

Track B (Biology and Chemistry-based)

Year/Semester 1st Semester 2nd Semester
2nd Year Computer Programming, Applied Mathematics, Biochemistry Applied Mathematics, Physics, Molecular Biology
3rd Year Agricultural AI, Biosystems Engineering, Experimental Design Statistics, Electronics, Food Processing
4th Year Biosystems Engineering Practice, Microprocessor Applications, Biosensors Biosystems Engineering Seminar, Post-Harvest Processing, Machine Learning

Requirements

  • Students are required to complete a minimum of 3 courses with English instruction, including university English.
  • Students are required to choose a track and follow the corresponding curriculum.
  • Students are required to complete a minimum of 130 credits to graduate.
