Program Overview
Introduction to CUHK EMBA
The Executive MBA (EMBA) Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School is the first EMBA programme in Hong Kong and remains a truly made-in-Hong Kong product. It was initially offered in 1993 and celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year.
Programme Overview
Our motto is to combine tradition with modernity, and to bring together China and the West. We established the “six pillars” (Theories, Practices, Internal Network, External Network, Strategic Perspectives, and Social Contribution) as our programme’s core value to enhance the wellbeing of the business community and society.
International Recognition
In the 2025 Financial Times Global Executive MBA Ranking, CUHK EMBA has climbed to the 22nd position globally and ranks 3rd in Asia Pacific for alumni network. The programme secured the top spot among all independent EMBA programmes in Asia Pacific in terms of alumni achieving their aims through the programme. Among the top 100 EMBA programmes worldwide, CUHK EMBA alumni have achieved remarkable success in terms of average salary three years after graduation, with an average annual salary exceeding HK$2.5 million and an impressive average salary increase rate of 73%.
Course Relevancy and Practicality
We continue to introduce new course content and bring new learning experiences to the students. To enhance relevancy and practicality for quality teaching, we partnered with business leaders, senior government officials, and our faculty members to develop eight case studies, including:
- Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government: Addressing Global Climate Change
- OmniFoods: Plant-based Pork from Hong Kong to the Rest of China
- Green Monday: Flexitarianism, Innovation, and Endorsement
- Incubation and The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation
- OpenSky.tv: A New Business Model – Content Creation, Curation, Consumption, Commercialization These cases were published by Ivey Publishing and are available at the Harvard Business Publishing website or Ivey Publishing website.
Overseas Learning Experience
To help participants enhance their global and regional learning experience and interact with senior executives from different parts of the world, we have organised several overseas study trips. This year, a group of participants completed a study trip to University of St. Gallen in Switzerland in July.
Lifelong Learning Opportunities and Networking
To provide lifelong learning opportunities and enhance lifelong networking for EMBA alumni and students, we have been conducting different types of co-curricular forums and events since 2002. Distinguished leaders, academics, and government officials are invited to share their experience and insights with the alumni and students.
Weekend Teaching Mode
Our classes are offered on Saturdays and Sundays (two consecutive days) to suit the travelling schedules of executives who have to travel frequently to the mainland and overseas or stay abroad for a long period. Students only need to attend class normally once every two to three weeks.
