Course Overview

The Diploma Programme in Advanced Putonghua is designed for individuals who have completed the Certificate in Putonghua (Advanced) or possess equivalent proficiency in Putonghua. The program aims to enhance students' language skills, focusing on pronunciation, reading, speaking, and listening.

Course Objectives

• Improve students' Putonghua proficiency in all aspects, including pronunciation, reading, speaking, and listening.
• Enhance students' ability to communicate effectively in Putonghua.
• Prepare students for the National Putonghua Proficiency Test and the Hong Kong Putonghua Proficiency Test.

The program consists of four modules:

• Module 1: Advanced Putonghua Pronunciation Training (45 hours)
• Module 2: Advanced Putonghua Reading Training (60 hours)
• Module 3: Advanced Putonghua Speaking Training (60 hours)

Admission Requirements

1. Academic Qualifications: Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Chinese Language Level 2 or above, or equivalent.
2. Age Requirement: 21 years old or above.
3. Language Proficiency: Completion of the Certificate in Putonghua (Advanced) or equivalent proficiency in Putonghua.
4. Entrance Examination: Applicants may be required to take an entrance examination (oral test).

Course Content

The program covers four modules:

• Module 1: Advanced Putonghua Pronunciation Training
  • Focuses on correcting pronunciation errors and improving students' ability to read words and phrases in Putonghua.
• Module 2: Advanced Putonghua Reading Training
  • Aims to enhance students' reading skills in Putonghua, focusing on different genres of texts.
• Module 3: Advanced Putonghua Speaking Training
  • Develops students' speaking skills in Putonghua, covering various topics and scenarios.
• Module 4: Advanced Putonghua Listening Training
  • Improves students' listening skills in Putonghua, focusing on different contexts and scenarios.

Assessment and Certification

Students who meet the following requirements will be awarded the Diploma in Advanced Putonghua:

• Attendance: Attend at least 70% of the classes for each module.
• Examination Results: Pass the examinations for each module.

Continuing Education Fund (CEF)

The program is eligible for reimbursement under the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) scheme. Students who meet the CEF requirements can apply for reimbursement of the course fee.

Enrollment Period

The enrollment period is three years. Students who fail to complete the program within the enrollment period will not be awarded the diploma.
