Overview

The Intercalated Prehospital Medicine BSc is a one-year program designed for current medical students. It provides specialist training in prehospital medicine, recognized as a subspecialty by the General Medical Council. Program Structure

The program can be started after the third or fourth year of the MBBS course. The structure includes:

Teaching and Learning

Entry Requirements

• Medical students must have completed 3 or 4 years of the MBBS course and passed all years to date.
• Dental and veterinary students are not eligible for this program.
• Selection is based on relevant experience, knowledge, and commitment demonstrated in the personal statement and interview.

Funding

• UK students are eligible to apply for loans and grants from Student Finance England or other government bodies.
• Bursaries are available for medical and dental students from Barts and The London based on research interests, financial need, or academic merit.

Careers

The BSc in Prehospital Medicine is an advantage for postgraduate training in the subspecialty of prehospital emergency medicine. It demonstrates knowledge and practical skills in stabilizing very sick and badly injured patients, relevant to other acute care specialties.
