The Medical Genetics program at Queen Mary University of London is designed to provide students with a solid scientific grounding and the skills to pursue a career in research and science communication.

Program Structure

The program includes a range of modules, including:

• Research Methods and Communication: This core second-year module teaches students how to design experiments, analyze and present data, and communicate results to others.
• Engaging the Public in Science: This optional third-year module explores the science-public interface, discussing what constitutes jargon and what research impact is, and how to evaluate it.
• Research Project: In the final year, students have the opportunity to design their own research project, supervised by experts, and investigate an open research question on their chosen aspect of Medical Genetics.

Research Opportunities

Through the program, students will develop the necessary skills to become researchers in their own right, with the chance to:

• Investigate an open research question on their chosen aspect of Medical Genetics
• Report the background, results, and conclusions of the study in an oral presentation and a 10,000-word thesis
