Program Overview

The Biomedical Sciences program at Queen Mary University of London is designed to provide students with a hands-on approach to learning, preparing them for a career in medicine and dentistry. The program is co-taught between the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Program Structure

One of the core modules in the program is 'Case-based Learning', which is designed to prepare students for the active, hands-on learning style emphasized in many UK medical schools. This approach, called problem-based learning, encourages students to work both independently and in teams to analyze real clinical case histories. The assessment sessions will also prepare students for medical school-style examinations.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module, students will have broadened their basic human bioscience knowledge and will be familiar with a range of clinically important diseases and conditions caused by dysfunctional physiological, anatomical, developmental, metabolic, molecular biological, and genetic processes.
