Program Overview


Doctorat en Comunicació

Presentació

The objective of the Doctorat en Comunicació is to train high-level researchers in the main fields of communication - journalism, audiovisual communication, advertising and public relations, documentation and Internet - in relation to other nearby disciplines, such as social sciences and humanities. The program is integrated into the Escola de Doctorat of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.


This training is oriented towards the existing research lines in the six research groups linked to the Departament de Comunicació, in collaboration with groups and departments from other national and international universities and with companies and institutions in the sector.

Requisits d'admissió

To be admitted to the Doctorat en Comunicació, candidates must:


  • Hold a títol universitari official de grau (or the equivalent title of llicenciat, enginyer, arquitecte, diplomat, enginyer or arquitecte tècnic, or a foreign title equivalent to a Spanish university degree).
  • Hold a títol oficial de màster universitari of at least 60 ECTS credits (or a foreign master's degree equivalent to a Spanish university master's degree).
  • Have completed at least 300 ECTS credits.

Alternatively, candidates can also access the doctorate with:


  • A Spanish or equivalent university degree, having completed at least 300 ECTS credits and accredited a level 3 of the MECES.
  • A non-Spanish degree from the European Higher Education Area, which accredits a level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework and allows access to a doctorate in the country of issue.
  • A foreign (non-EEES) degree of a level of training equivalent to a Spanish university master's degree and which allows access to a doctorate in the country of issue.
  • A doctoral degree.

Documentació obligatòria

The following documentation is required:


  • Photocopy of the títol universitari de grau, or photocopy of the payment receipt for the issuance of the degree.
  • Photocopy of the expedient acadèmic oficial de grau definitiu, with a weighted grade from 1 to 10.
  • A minimum of two letters of recommendation from professors or doctors of recognized prestige.
  • Proposta de recerca in Catalan, Spanish, or English.
  • Declaration of competències lingüístiques.
  • Curriculum Vitae.
  • Document Nacional d'Identitat or Passaport.

If the candidate has already completed their master's studies, they must also provide:


  • Photocopy of the títol de màster universitari, or photocopy of the payment receipt for the issuance of the master's degree.
  • Photocopy of the expedient acadèmic oficial definitiu del màster universitari.

If the candidate has not yet completed their master's studies, they must provide:


  • Declaració signada stating that they are in a position to obtain the master's degree before the start of the doctoral program.
  • Photocopy of the expedient acadèmic oficial provisional del màster universitari.

VALORACIÓ DELS CRITERIS DE SELECCIÓ

The selection criteria are evaluated as follows:


  1. Expedient acadèmic: 40%
  2. Memòria del projecte d'investigació: 50%
  • Adequacy of the pre-project to the research lines of the Department: 20%
  • Quality of the pre-project (objectives, state of the art, and method): 20%
  • Excellence of the pre-project: 5%
  • Having a scholarship granted to develop the proposed project: 5%
  1. Cartes de recomanació: 10%

Documentació opcional

The following documentation is optional but may be valued as merits by the department organizing the doctoral program:


  • Acreditació d'experiència investigadora prèvia.
  • Acreditació del nivell d'anglès through:
    1. An academic certificate of English knowledge.
    2. Presentation of a motivation letter in English, for the realization of the thesis in one of the research lines of the doctoral program, with a maximum extension of two pages.
