The program consists of several courses, each designed to build on the previous one, providing a comprehensive and progressive learning experience.


Course Details

  • Duration: 30 hours of classroom instruction (with 45 hours of autonomous work, totaling 75 hours of teaching-learning)
  • Modality: Most editions are virtual courses with direct teaching via video conferencing, but students can also choose to take the course in person at the UPF
  • Location: Ciutadella Campus (in-person editions)
  • Certificate: Upon completing the course (with a minimum attendance of 80%), students will receive a UPF certificate via email
  • Eligibility: The course is open to anyone over 18 years old

  • Acquire the necessary skills to pass the official CIFALC C1 level Catalan language exam
  • Develop strategies to achieve good results in the different areas of the exam
  • Improve written and oral expression through systematic practice of activities specific to the official C1 level exam
  • Review the most conflictive aspects of Catalan grammar

Access Requirements

Students can enroll directly in the course and, to confirm their enrollment, must demonstrate that they have achieved the previous level, C1.1 MECR. This can be demonstrated by:


  • Sending a certificate
  • Taking a free and virtual level test

Pricing

  • Standard Price: 270 €
  • Subsidized Price for UPF Community Members: 60 €
  • Subsidized Price for UPF Undergraduate Students: The course is free to facilitate the acquisition of the language proficiency level for UPF undergraduate students
  • Price for UPF Teaching and Research Staff (PDI): The course is free to facilitate the accreditation of the language proficiency level for UPF PDI

Conditions

  • The course price includes teaching, additional materials, and the UPF course certificate
  • The price does not include the official CIFALC exam fee
  • If a student decides to withdraw from the course, they must request a refund in writing before the course starts. Otherwise, the course fee will not be returned. The subsidized price of this course will not be returned under any circumstances. If Idiomes UPF cancels a course due to not reaching the minimum number of students required (10), the full amount will be returned in all cases.

Diploma in Catalan Language and Cultural Studies (CATStudies)

Students who are studying at the UPF (exchange students and non-Catalan speaking degree, master's, and doctoral students) and are making an effort to learn Catalan can apply for the UPF Diploma in Catalan Language and Cultural Studies (CATStudies). [More information]


For this language course, students will obtain 3 ECTS to reach the 7 ECTS needed to obtain the UPF Diploma CATStudies.
