Introduction to the Humanities Degree
The Humanities Degree at Pompeu Fabra University provides a deep understanding of cultures and societies through an interdisciplinary and transversal education based on the main humanistic fields: art, history, literature, and thought. This broad knowledge of humanistic culture enables graduates to approach the past from a historical, social, and cultural perspective, understand the evolution of essential ideas that have shaped Western civilization, and familiarize themselves with other civilizations with which the West has dialogued.

Objectives
The Humanities Degree offers a transversal education based on four itineraries: art, history, literature, and thought. Through these fields, students establish an interdisciplinary and intersectional view between the past and the present, enabling them to understand the world critically and adapt to constant changes.

- Interpretation of written texts and oral discourses, as well as works of art and other humanistic documents
- Ability to synthesize and integrate information from written texts, oral discourses, and visual documentation
- Argumentation skills to defend opinions
- Research, selection, management, and elaboration of cultural contents
- Reading and writing comprehension in Catalan and Spanish
- Oral competence in Catalan and Spanish
- Oral and written competence in English for academic purposes
- Knowledge of digital tools and technologies necessary for academic and professional activities in the humanities
- Teamwork and respect for others' opinions in a pluralistic and tolerant environment
- Flexible application of acquired knowledge

Curriculum
