Program Overview
The Doctoral Program in Communication aims to train international-level researchers in the main fields of communication and related disciplines within the social sciences and humanities. This program leads to the elaboration and defense of a doctoral thesis, a process that culminates in the attainment of the doctoral degree.
Program Details
- Modality: Full-time program
- Duration:
- For students matriculated from the current academic year onwards: 4 years
- For students matriculated before the current academic year: 3 years
- Thesis Submission: The doctoral thesis must be submitted before the end of the 4th academic year (for students matriculated from the current year onwards) or the 3rd academic year (for students matriculated before the current year), counting from the date of matriculation.
- Extension: For students with a disability of 33% or higher, the duration can be extended to a maximum of 6 years. The degree of disability must be accredited and informed through the management software.
- Formative Activities: Mandatory and face-to-face, taking place over the first three years.
- Languages: Formative activities are offered in Spanish, Catalan, or English, with an increasing presence of the latter.
Research Areas
The theses are framed within the research lines of each group. The training is developed around the research groups of the Department of Communication, in collaboration with groups and departments from other national and international universities, as well as with companies and institutions in the sector.
Program Accreditation
The Doctoral Program in Communication is integrated into the Pompeu Fabra University's School of Doctoral Studies and has obtained the "In Progress of Excellence" accreditation (the highest possible) from the Agency for the Quality of the University System (AQU) of Catalonia.
