Màster en Documental de Creació

The Màster en Documental de Creació is a postgraduate program offered by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, aimed at professionals in the audiovisual sector and graduates in Communication Audiovisual and Sciences of Communication or other disciplines interested in forming as promoters of projects, filmmakers, or producers.

Program Description

The program provides a solid preparation, both theoretical and practical, in documentary filmmaking and production. It is an international reference for its quality, innovative character, creative freedom, and ability to form new professionals. Since its inception in 1998, the program has demonstrated its ability to transform students' project ideas into films.

Program Structure

The program is structured into three subjects and a documentary project that is developed throughout the first two subjects. The program ends with participation in the master's initiative projects.

• Narrativa, estètica, història i perspectives del documental: This subject covers the history of documentary cinema, its forms and genres, and the analysis of films from different styles or schools.
• Desenvolupament de projecte personal: This subject focuses on the development of each student's personal project, from the initial idea to the creation of a dossier and a teaser that can be presented to a producer, a forum, or an international agent.
• Participació en els projectes iniciativa del Màster en Documental de Creació: In this subject, students participate in the development of three documentary projects in collaboration with three independent production companies.

The program is aimed at professionals in the audiovisual sector and graduates in Communication Audiovisual and Sciences of Communication or other disciplines interested in forming as promoters of projects, filmmakers, or producers.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for the program is 10,000 €.

Duration and Language

The program lasts 24 months and is taught in Spanish.

Credits and Title

The program is worth 90 ECTS credits, and upon completion, students obtain a Master's degree in Documentary Creation from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

The program is directed by Eva Vila Purti and features a faculty of professionals and filmmakers of international renown.

Methodology

The program's teaching methodology combines theory and practice, with students developing their own documentary project and participating in the development and production of a feature-length documentary film.
