Program Overview


Introduction to the Master's Program

The International Master in Audiovisual and Cinema Studies (IMACS) is a unique initiative that brings together seventeen prestigious universities to provide students with a comprehensive education in cinema and audiovisual studies. This program allows students to specialize in various fields of cinema, including aesthetic analysis, historiography, film preservation, new cinematic trends, hybridization with other arts, documentary tradition, and new audiovisual practices.


Program Objectives

The primary objectives of the IMACS program are:


  • To provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a doctoral thesis in cinema studies.
  • To enable students to teach in the broad field of audiovisual studies.
  • To equip students with advanced knowledge, allowing them to work in film conservation, programming, and criticism.

Program Structure

The IMACS program is a fully face-to-face master's program that allows students to complete part of their training at their home university and the rest through two mobilities abroad at universities with suitable faculty, curricula, and didactic resources. This structure enables students to internationalize their research in cinema studies, preparing them for future doctoral studies or professional work in the field of cinema or audiovisual studies.
