Presentation
The Bachelor's Degree in Journalism at UPF aims to provide students with the capacity and skills to create and innovate in the field of journalism. The program focuses on developing students' abilities to create content and styles for various media platforms, including press, radio, television, and the internet.
Objectives and Competencies
The primary objective of the program is to train professionals capable of developing their skills in any information and communication medium. The program aims to prepare students for the foreseeable changes in the world of communication, both from a social and technological perspective.
Competencies
- Ability to write and produce journalistic products in different genres
- Ability to use basic technologies that incorporate various supports and/or platforms for dissemination
- Acquisition of sufficient intellectual baggage to develop in a complex world
- Assumption of ethical principles derived from considering information as a basic social good in a democratic society
Curriculum
The program includes a range of subjects, including basic, compulsory, and elective courses, as well as external practices and a final degree project.
Practices
Many of the subjects in the program are practical, with a strong emphasis on hands-on experience. The program includes a compulsory external practice of 14 credits, which consists of a stay in a media outlet, news agency, or communication office for at least one trimester.
Stays Abroad
The program encourages student mobility and offers the possibility of stays in European or international universities with journalism or related programs.
