Introduction to the Doctoral Program in Biomedicine
The Doctoral Program in Biomedicine at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) is designed to provide students with the necessary tools and expertise to conduct research in the field of health and life sciences. The program is international in scope, with a significant number of students from outside Spain.
Program Description
The Doctoral Program in Biomedicine is a four-year program that includes a research period from October to June. The program is taught in English and requires full-time dedication. The program has a limited number of places, with a maximum of 120 students per year.

Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the Doctoral Program in Biomedicine, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a university degree in an official bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
- Hold a university master's degree (official) with a minimum of 60 ECTS credits
- Have completed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits
- Meet the language requirements (English)
- Provide the required documentation, including:
- Photocopy of the university degree
- Photocopy of the official academic transcript
- Photocopy of the university master's degree (if applicable)
- Photocopy of the official academic transcript of the university master's degree (if applicable)
- Declaration of being in a position to obtain the master's degree (if not already completed)
- Photocopy of the passport or national ID
- Project proposal
- Letter of acceptance from a research group
- CV of the supervisor (if not a UPF member)
Admission Criteria
In addition to meeting the general admission requirements, candidates will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Adequacy of research interests to the program's research lines (up to 5 points)
- Adequacy of research interests to the research lines of collaborating institutions (up to 3 points)
- Support from a researcher at the DCEXS (MELIS) or collaborating institutions (up to 4 points)
- Obtaining or having applied for a predoctoral fellowship (up to 1 point)
