Program Overview

Electrical, Materials, Raw Materials And Nanotechnology Engineering

The PhD Course in Electrical, Materials and Nanotechnology Engineering is established with the scope of creating a truly multidisciplinary third education level, targeted at the study of research topics in the following engineering sectors:

  • electrical engineering, with particular emphasis on renewable electric energy sources, risks associated with conducted or radiated electromagnetic interference, electrical machines and drives, power electronics, electric vehicles, sustainable electric mobility, sensing technologies, soft robotics with electrostatic-electrofluidic actuation, electromagnetic compatibility, environmental electromagnetic impact, and techniques and methodologies for electrical and electromagnetic measurements;
  • engineering of raw materials for the study and enhancement of primary and secondary raw materials, development and application of advanced technologies for material recycling, promoting the sustainable use of resources and the principles of the circular economy;
  • materials engineering for applications, technologies, and industrial production processes in mass production sectors such as automotive, railways, construction, marine, aerospace, and space, with particular attention to eco-sustainable and circular processes and materials. Another field of focus is cultural heritage, with particular reference to the diagnostics and preservation of cultural assets, including artistic and architectural material heritage;
  • engineering of micro- and nano-scale technologies for the development and characterization of new materials, devices, and multifunctional components for industrial applications.
