Educational Goals
The Master's program proposes to achieve the following educational objectives. Visual impairment, as defined by the World Health Organization, is a functional condition where the visual damage corresponds to a visual field of no more than 30° in the better eye and a vision of less than or equal to 3/10. With the improvement of ophthalmological techniques, the success of interventions, and new therapeutic strategies, the number of patients who fall into the category of legal blindness has decreased significantly in recent years. Consequently, the intermediate category of visual impairment is rapidly increasing in number, resulting in significant economic, social, and family costs. To combat these costs, it is necessary to implement correct visual rehabilitation, often personalized. Today, rehabilitation is understood as the set of aids, techniques, and clinical-therapeutic procedures that enable the restoration of normal visual abilities in patients with visual impairments. The Master's program can offer specific theoretical competencies at the highest level and practical ideas on how to structure personalized disciplinary pathways to improve patient compliance and reduce dropout rates. For the acquisition of practical competencies, Master's students can participate in assistance activities exclusively with the support of a tutor. The Master's program is aimed at individuals interested in developing a concrete professionality in the ophthalmological field.
