International Economic and Financial Relations
Program Overview
International Economic and Financial Relations
Objectives
The course aims to train professionals who, in both public and private sectors, are able to contribute to the interpretation and analysis of international economic phenomena in globalized contexts. To this end, the training path offers not only international disciplines but also comparative ones, whose purpose is to educate students to critical comparison between different institutional settings and to project them into a transnational, European, and global dimension.
In particular, the training path is articulated over three years, starting with general notions and specializing in the second and, above all, third year. The first year provides teachings for basic preparation in economic, quantitative, and legal areas; the mandatory teaching of English is planned for the first year to allow the use of material in English in the following years. In the second year, a relative deepening of the basic subjects is expected, such as microeconomics and macroeconomics, and the expansion of training also in related subjects, such as private law and business economics. The third year is dedicated to acquiring knowledge of international economics, monetary and financial economics, as well as in-depth study of the use of economic-quantitative tools for evaluating regional policies and the efficiency of financial markets.
The acquisition of the knowledge and skills described so far is verified not only through traditional profit exams but also through progressive monitoring of the acquired preparation through intermediate tests, also in the form of group seminars useful for educating students to communication, theses, and practical exercises carried out using econometric-statistical software. To educate students to apply, with full autonomy of judgment, the acquired knowledge, the teaching programs include the analysis of case studies and exam tests include problem-solving. The same purpose is served by both internships, for the application of knowledge to reality and the development of skills, and the final test, which aims to educate students to effective communication.
