Program Overview

Biochemistry Program

The Biochemistry program, taught in English, has been designed in accordance with the quality criteria set forth by the ANVUR guidelines. This program places Biochemistry at the center of the student's educational path, ensuring that it becomes the interpretative key for their professional and work approach in the future. Biochemistry, as a single subject of study, is present in various national university training courses, but this is the first and only degree course focused on its specific in-depth study within the biological and biotechnological disciplines.

Program Characteristics

  • The program presents unique characteristics in its educational project compared to other degree courses in the LM-9 class present in the university and at the national level.
  • The use of English as the vehicular language favors international mobility (both incoming and outgoing) and broadens job prospects.
  • The educational path provides in-depth theoretical knowledge of the main fields of Biochemistry, Biochemical Methodologies, and Biotechnologies, as well as solid practical preparation, thanks to the presence of dedicated teaching laboratories.
  • Practical skills are further developed during the targeted internship for the preparation of the thesis, which must be experimental and can be carried out in an academic or public and private research institutions.

Educational Path

  • The educational path is articulated through diversified learning experiences that always place the student at the center of educational activities.
  • It is also integrated with seminars held by specialists from other public and private institutions and national and international organizations.
  • Within the CIVIS alliance (Europe's Civic University Alliance), an international mobility path has been established that allows a limited number of selected students to acquire a multiple degree title.

Career Prospects

  • The graduate in Biochemistry will be able to use the knowledge, skills, and applicative abilities acquired both to continue in higher studies (master's, specialization, research doctorate) and in national and international work contexts.
  • The main job prospects concern roles of responsibility in the fields of research and development, production, and marketing of goods and services in biotechnological, pharmaceutical, biomedical, and agro-food industries.
