Program Overview

Program Overview

The Master's Degree in Gender Studies, Cultures, and Policies for Media and Communication is focused on the application of gender studies to the analysis of communication and media, as well as the production of informative, cultural, entertainment, institutional, and political content. The objective is to promote inclusive and respectful narratives and representations of gender identities.

Program Description

This is the first Master's program in Italy to integrate the study of cultural, social, psychological, political, legal, and economic processes that generate or contrast gender inequalities, with the analysis and development of communicative content attentive to gender issues. The program responds to the growing relevance of cultural phenomena related to collective gender identities, which increasingly confront the socio-technical dynamics of media and, in particular, social networking platforms.

Program Structure

The program is a two-year course. During the first year, students delve into the social, cultural, and political conditions that fuel gender inequalities, the relationship between media representations and the reproduction of stereotypes, and the principles of a language respectful of differences. In the second year, the focus is on digital narratives, communication strategies, psychosocial dynamics, and the economic dimensions of discrimination, constitutional profiles of parity, and related protections. Ample space is dedicated to laboratory activities.

Internships and Career Opportunities

Internships are available at public and private entities. Upon completing the program, students acquire advanced professional skills, with specific competencies in the analysis, design, and management of content and services. This opens up opportunities for roles of responsibility within organizations operating in the culture, information, media, and political and institutional communication sectors: from journalism (following registration with the Journalists' Association), to content writing and production, public relations, radio and television format creation and adaptation, to editorial planning and multimedia services, with possibilities to work as consultants, editorial managers, narrative strategy creators, or digital content designers.

Admission Criteria

Access to the program involves a procedure for verifying requirements and individual preparation.
