Program Overview
Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques
The Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques program offers various opportunities for study, research, and internships abroad, both within and outside Europe, for short or long periods, including thesis research and more.
International Experiences
- Erasmus+ Program: Promotes transnational cooperation between higher education institutions, funds mobility for study purposes (SMS) in all disciplines and levels of study (including doctoral studies), and facilitates academic recognition of studies within the European Higher Education Area. The program allows students to attend courses and pass exams with full recognition in their academic curriculum or conduct research for their thesis.
- Erasmus+ Traineeship: Enables students to undertake internships at companies, training centers, and research institutions in participating countries. The program allows students to engage in full-time internship activities abroad, recognized as an integral part of their study program. The internship can be undertaken after graduation, provided the selection process occurs before the completion of the degree.
- European Alliance CIVIS: Sapienza is a partner in the European Alliance CIVIS, "A European Civic University," funded by the European Union and established with universities such as the Free University of Brussels, University of Tübingen, Autonomous University of Madrid, Aix-Marseille Université, National Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Bucharest, University of Stockholm, University of Glasgow, Paris Londron University Salzburg, and Université de Lausanne. The alliance has activated various shared study programs among the 11 European campuses to create a true European higher education space and contribute to the development of a solid and multilingual European knowledge society. The training is based on research and innovative teaching activities, which include, in addition to traditional Erasmus mobility, short mobility periods, also virtual and distance learning.
Study Periods in Non-EU Countries
- Overseas Program: Thanks to funds allocated by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and its own contributions, Sapienza offers the opportunity to spend a study period abroad, supporting exams or thesis research, in one of the over 200 non-EU institutions with which it has bilateral agreements. The Overseas mobility program provides a monthly contribution of 700 euros net for the first 5 months and 500 euros net from the 6th month onwards. The continuous stay abroad cannot be less than 90 days and can last up to 2 consecutive semesters. It is allowed to benefit from the contribution only once for each study cycle, and the scholarship is not cumulative with other Sapienza contributions.
- Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility - ICM Program: The Erasmus+ ICM program, funded by the European Commission, allows students and teachers to spend a study/research period for thesis or teaching/training in non-EU countries and provides a study grant and travel expense coverage. All activities supported abroad will be recognized upon return from mobility by the competent Sapienza teachers, as established in the Learning Agreement. Student mobility can have a minimum duration of 3 to 6 months (eventually extendable up to a maximum of 12 months, with the last 6 months without a study grant - Zero-EU Grant modality). The ICM grant also covers research mobility at the doctoral level for the same duration. Travel expenses are calculated using the Distance Calculator based on the distance between the city of the home university and the city of the host university.
Course Activities
- The Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques course, with its seat at the Polo Universitario di Rieti, has undertaken, for the first time since its establishment and for this degree class, the possibility of training paths abroad for its students through Erasmus+.
- A similar training path has been identified at the Scuola di Istruzione Avanzata Tartanga in Bilbao (Spain), with which an agreement has been signed that provides for the exchange of students from Spain to Italy and vice versa, including internship activities, starting from the 2025/26 academic year. Erasmus for teachers has also been planned within the same training path. Therefore, students have the opportunity to follow their internship activities abroad, starting from the 2nd year of the course. The professionalizing training activity abroad is monitored by the tutors of this course and the Didactic Director. At the end of the period abroad, students are invited to report on their experience to other course students through the organization of a seminar.
- Students are assisted in international agreements undertaken by the course regarding access modalities and necessary requirements for mobility admission by the Erasmus+ staff of Sapienza and with the help of the President. An information day is organized, with an explanation in the classroom of the type of training path.
