Degree Programme Choice Orientation

The SOrT (Integrated Orientation Service) is a service provided by Sapienza University, with a central office located in the University City and desks located in the Faculties. In the SOrT, students can find more specific information about the Faculties and degree programs, as well as support for orientation. The central office and Faculty teachers coordinate orientation projects, both for incoming students and for tutoring, and manage relationships with high schools and their reference teachers. They also propose support actions during the transition from school to university and provide information on the educational offer and administrative procedures for accessing courses.

Initiatives and Projects for Orientation

  1. "Porte aperte alla Sapienza" (Open Doors at Sapienza): An annual event held at the University City, dedicated primarily to new students, where they can meet teachers and other students, receive information, and attend presentations of the educational offer of all Faculties.
  2. "Orientamento Sapienza" Portal: An online portal that allows for an immersive experience of university life, including navigable images and videos of the campus, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, theater, and sports facilities. The portal also provides online educational modules on the main topics of the courses and allows students to evaluate and improve their preparation for entrance tests.
  3. "Un Ponte tra Scuola e Università" (A Bridge between School and University) Project: Aims to facilitate the transition of students from high school to university and their subsequent insertion into the new reality. The project includes initiatives such as presentations of the Faculties and sample lessons, as well as interventions in schools to present the services offered by Sapienza and the university experience.
  4. Self-Assessment Tools: Include "Conosci te stesso" (Know Yourself) and "Io, me e gli altri" (I, Me, and Others), which help students in the decision-making process for choosing their educational path and measure soft skills.
  5. "Orientamento in rete" (Orientation in Network) Project: A project for orientation and realignment of minimum knowledge necessary for accessing biomedical, psychological, and health science courses. It includes a preparatory course with a first phase of distance learning and a second phase of intensive in-person courses.
  6. "Percorsi per le competenze trasversali e per l'orientamento - PCTO" (Paths for Transversal Competences and Orientation): A didactic modality that helps high school students consolidate their knowledge and test their attitudes in the field, enriching their education and orienting their study path.
  7. "Orientamento Next Generation (ONG)" (Next Generation Orientation): A project common to all universities in the Lazio region, aimed at helping students choose their educational path and define their personal and professional trajectory. It includes a 15-hour training course, structured in five modules, on topics such as the importance of studying, how to study at the university, and career preparation.
  8. Preparation for Entrance Tests: Sapienza uses the CISIA Online Entrance Tests (TOLC), which can be taken by high school students through the CISIA portal. The portal also allows for training through Positioning Tests for Students (PPS), providing immediate feedback on the level of preparation.
  9. "Saperi Minimi" (Minimum Knowledge) Project: Dedicated to the realignment of minimum knowledge necessary for attending university courses, it includes recorded lessons by university teachers aimed at strengthening incoming knowledge and allowing for a more conscious and motivated university career.
  10. "Of@Sapienza" (Of at Sapienza): An e-learning channel to increase preparation for entrance tests and prevent the attribution of Additional Formative Obligations (OFA) in Italian and Mathematics.
  11. "Eventi di orientamento" (Orientation Events): A collection of all orientation events organized by the University, Faculties, Departments, and CAD/CdS, available in chronological order.

Activities of the Degree Program

The Degree Program in Mathematical Sciences for Artificial Intelligence will rely on and contribute to the orientation activities carried out by the Degree Program in Mathematics, modifying them as necessary due to the specificities of the program. These activities include the Scientific Degrees Plan, Mathematics competitions, and video presentations that will be prepared and uploaded to the Department's website and the Faculty's orientation bulletin board. Members of the teaching committee of the degree program in Mathematical Sciences for Artificial Intelligence will also participate in the "Porte Aperte" initiative, an orientation event where they can directly interface with aspiring students.
