Introduction to the Course

The course "Formazione generale in Salute e Sicurezza sul Lavoro (SSL) per lavoratori ed equiparati" is a general training course in Health and Safety at Work for workers and equivalents. It is provided by Sapienza University and is available on the MOODLE platform.


Course Details

  • The course is delivered in e-learning mode and has a duration of 4 hours.
  • It includes self-assessment checks and a final test.
  • The course is designed to provide a permanent title of "Lavoratore formato in materia di Salute e Sicurezza sul Lavoro - Formazione Generale" (Worker trained in Health and Safety at Work - General Training), as required by art. 37 of Legislative Decree 81/08 and subsequent amendments and additions.

Who Must Participate

  • All students who have never attended a general training course in Health and Safety at Work (or who attended one before December 31, 2019) are required to participate in the course if they:
    • Work in laboratories (including those who attend computer labs for more than 19 hours a week).
    • Engage in collaboration activities (internships, collaboration grants, etc.).
    • Are considered "equiparato a lavoratore" (equivalent to a worker).
  • For these students, participation in the SSL training is mandatory under Art. 20 of Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments and additions.

Who Can Choose to Participate Voluntarily

  • All Sapienza students can attend the course voluntarily, as it will be useful for living safely in their daily activities and for being prepared to face risks in the work context.

What Does "Equiparato a Lavoratore" Mean

  • The law considers workers to also include non-organically structured personnel operating in a university.
  • The following categories are considered "equiparati" to workers from the point of view of Health and Safety at Work:
    • Personnel of affiliated entities, both public and private, who carry out their activity within the organization of the University.
    • University course students, doctoral students, specialization students, trainees, scholarship holders, and subjects equivalent to them, when they frequent didactic, research, or service laboratories and are exposed to risks deriving from physical, chemical, biological agents, and risks deriving from equipment equipped with video terminals.

Course Structure and Duration

  • The course "Formazione generale in Salute e Sicurezza sul Lavoro (SSL) per lavoratori ed equiparati" is delivered in e-learning mode and has a duration of 4 hours.
  • It includes self-assessment checks and a final test.
  • The course allows students to acquire the permanent title of "Lavoratore formato in materia di Salute e Sicurezza sul Lavoro - Formazione Generale" (Worker trained in Health and Safety at Work - General Training), as required by art. 37 of Legislative Decree 81/08 and subsequent amendments and additions.

Recognition of CFU and Open Badge

  • The CFU acquired at the end of the course can be recognized as curricular, exclusively among the "other useful knowledge for entering the world of work", where the course provides dedicated CFU.
  • If the course does not provide dedicated CFU for these activities, or if the student has already acquired the CFU provided for "other useful knowledge for entering the world of work" through other training activities, the CFU will be recorded in the student's career as extracurricular.
  • The Open Badge will be assigned to all participants.

Information for Students of Medical Area

  • Students enrolled in the Degree Courses, single-cycle Master's Degrees, and Master's Degrees belonging to the Faculties of Pharmacy and Medicine, Medicine and Odontology, and Medicine and Psychology must follow the course "Il rischio nelle strutture sanitarie" (Risk in Healthcare Facilities), with reference to the entire course or limited to the first module, based on the indications received from the Faculty Presidents through the Presidents of the Degree Courses.
  • The first module of the aforementioned course is equivalent to the course "Formazione generale in Salute e Sicurezza sul Lavoro (SSL) per lavoratori ed equiparati" (General Training in Health and Safety at Work for Workers and Equivalents).
  • At the end of the first module of the course "Il rischio nelle strutture sanitarie", students will be assigned:
    • 1 University Training Credit (CFU).
    • 1 Open Badge (currently being prepared).

Recognition of CFU and Open Badge for Students of Medical Area

  • The CFU acquired by attending the aforementioned course can be recognized as curricular, exclusively among the "other useful knowledge for entering the world of work", where the course provides dedicated CFU, or, limited to the courses of study in Medicine and Surgery, Odontology and Dental Prosthetics, and the courses of study of the health professions, among the "ADE" (Other Educational Activities).
  • If the course does not provide dedicated CFU for these activities, or if the student has already acquired the CFU provided for "other useful knowledge for entering the world of work" or for "ADE" through other training activities, the CFU will be recorded in the student's career as extracurricular.
  • The Open Badge will be assigned to all participants.

Students of Medical Area Who Attended the Course "Il rischio nelle strutture sanitarie" Before December 31, 2019

  • Those who attended the course "Il rischio nelle strutture sanitarie" before December 31, 2019, and have not completed at least 6 hours of SSL training/updates in the last five years, are required to attend the course "Formazione generale in Salute e Sicurezza sul Lavoro (SSL) per lavoratori ed equiparati", as it is also valid as the first part of the five-year periodic update provided for by the current legislation.
  • For these students, participation in the General Workers Training Course made available by Sapienza is mandatory.
