Educational Objectives
The objective of the Ph.D. program in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics is to provide students with advanced theoretical and practical tools that can be used in scientific and technological sectors, including those beyond the classical areas of Mechanics. Particular attention is paid to the training of Ph.D. students in modeling, numerical, and experimental fields, to develop project ideas, procedures, systems, and technological solutions that can be used to systematically address research and development activities.
Research Areas
The research activities carried out in the Ph.D. program in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics are divided into three multidisciplinary areas:
- Fluidodynamics
- Applied Mechanics to Machines
- Mechanics of Solids and Structures Examples of studies and applications include:
- Reduction of resistance with diluted polymer solutions
- Evaporation and condensation of droplets
- Interfaces at the nanometric scale
- Viscoelastic behavior of materials
