Program Overview

Dottorato in Matematica

The Dottorato in Matematica is a three-year program that prepares students for a professional or academic career in the fields of Pure and Applied Mathematics.

Program Description

  • The program provides a broad and high-level mathematical education.
  • It offers the opportunity to deepen mathematical skills through scientific research.
  • Students participate in a research program in promising areas of mathematics and its applications in an interdisciplinary context.

The high quality of the doctoral program is guaranteed by the excellence of the research carried out in the department and the numerous scientific collaborations that the researchers maintain with the most qualified national and international research groups. The doctoral program belongs to the Scuola di Dottorato Vito Volterra, which constitutes an additional opportunity to enrich the scientific and cultural value of the program.

Program Structure

  • The program lasts three years, starting from November 1st.
  • During this period, students follow courses, develop an individual research project under the guidance of a supervisor, and participate in the research activities of the Department of Mathematics.
  • Approximately ten scholarships are available each year (without teaching obligations).
  • The exact number of available scholarships and positions without a scholarship is announced during the annual call.

Collaborations

Starting from the academic year, the Mathematics doctoral program at the University "Sapienza" has joined forces with the Mathematics doctoral programs at the University of Tor Vergata and the University of Roma Tre, offering compatible schedules for the admission procedure, doctoral courses, possibilities for thesis supervisors in one of the three schools, and a monthly colloquium.

Research Areas

The program focuses on Pure and Applied Mathematics, with research opportunities in various areas, including interdisciplinary applications.
