Overview
The Ph.D. program in Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Educational Research aims to provide advanced training in research methodologies and theoretical frameworks within the fields of social psychology, developmental psychology, and educational research.
Program Objectives
The program has two main curricula:
- Curriculum in Social Psychology: This curriculum focuses on the advanced training of researchers in the field of social psychology, with the goal of understanding basic psychological and social processes, such as knowledge and attitudes, interpersonal relationships, group processes, social influence, communication, prejudice, intergroup relations, and social identity. The curriculum also aims to form researchers capable of operating in the field of environmental psychology, analyzing the psychological processes that occur between individuals and their daily environments, and collaborating with various design and management areas of these environments.
- Curriculum in Developmental Psychology and Educational Research: This curriculum aims to ensure innovative competencies in the field of educational experimentation and large-scale surveys, as well as in psychological research in developmental age. The objective is to realize original research projects concerning the complex reforms that have interested the national training system, the school reform, the obligation of training, university teacher training, university reform, and active labor policies, with connected transversal themes (continuous training, adult education, orientation).
Program Details
- The program provides students with:
- Advanced awareness of the different theoretical paradigms present in the sector of social psychology and developmental psychology.
- Updated knowledge of the most recent developments in the field of research on cognitive processes and conduct regulation.
- Updated knowledge of the most recent developments in the field of research on communication and the social organization of complex cognitive functions within cultural and organizational contexts.
- A sufficient background of knowledge and experiences, oriented towards the ability of multidisciplinary collaboration with various disciplinary and technical fields traditionally connected to the research interests of environmental psychology and developmental psychology.
- Secure methodological competence, both in terms of the ability to plan investigations operationally coherent with the adopted theoretical and epistemological paradigms, and in terms of attention to both qualitative and quantitative aspects.
