The Scienze storiche. Medioevo, età moderna, età contemporanea program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of historical aspects, methodologies, and applications. The program aims to develop students' autonomous ability to relate their knowledge to other fields of study, including historical, literary, artistic, and economic disciplines.
Program Objectives
- The program provides students with knowledge and understanding of methodological, critical, and applicative aspects of the discipline.
- It proposes areal and sectoral perspectives in which research projects related to the discipline can be activated.
- The program develops students' ability to use their knowledge and specific language to achieve "transversal competencies" such as autonomy of judgment and communicative skills.
Course Details
STORIA CONTEMPORANEA IV A
- Course Objectives: The course aims to offer a knowledge of European history as an expression of international history in the 20th and 21st centuries, from the original context of the Cold War to the subsequent evolutions of the new international order/disorder.
- Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of the main events that mark the history of the 20th century is required.

- Attendance: Attendance is strongly recommended.
- Examination Method: The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the main issues addressed in the course and in the examination texts, showing the ability to argue and reflect critically on the major nodes of political, social, and cultural history in the European and international context of the 20th century and the early years of the 21st century.
- Teaching Method: The course will be conducted mainly through frontal lessons. During the lessons, students will be continuously encouraged to reflect and understand the historical method. Slides will also be used and made available for each lesson to ensure better enjoyment.

Internship Opportunities
- Tirocini AAF in Biblioteca: The internship is aimed at students of the L42 SAR (curricula of medieval history and paleography and modern and contemporary history) and LM84 courses.
- Duration: 50 hours (2 CFU) or 100 hours (4 CFU)
- Period: September-January; February-June
- Locations: Central headquarters (CU003 building): Section of History and Religions, Section of Art and Anthropology; ex-Vetrerie Sciarra (RM103 building): Section of Entertainment
- Number of Available Places: 2 students for each period
- Application Method: By sending an email request to participate in AAF (with the indication of name and surname, matricola, course, and curriculum) to the specified address
- Application Deadline: June 1-30 (for the September-January period); December 1-31 (for the February-June period)
- Selection Method: Order of application submission
- Activities:
- A. Training: Knowledge of the library, its structure, organization, user services, and back-office activities; support for library staff activities.
- B. Practical Activities: Treatment of funds, reference activities, document delivery and interlibrary loan services, inventory reorganization. Each student will be assigned to a tutor chosen from the library staff. At the end of the service, a certificate of attendance will be issued. All participating students must have attended the General SSL Training course for Workers and Equivalents. For those who do not already have a certificate of attendance, it will be possible to attend the course during the hours scheduled for AAF.
