Program Overview


Overview

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) will equip students with the fundamentals of engineering, both technically and via communication skills. Faculty members who drive relevant and cutting-edge research will teach students how to apply this knowledge in real situations, preparing them to engineer the future.


Program Details

  • The first year of study allows students to learn more about engineering and its various fields.
  • From the second year, students will focus on their chosen major, while in their third and fourth year of the major, they will branch into more specialized areas.
  • The degree also includes 12 weeks of hands-on industry experience, either in Australia or overseas, as well as a range of industry projects and other career-ready learning opportunities.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must achieve the required score in a previous qualification, equivalent to completing at least 13 years of schooling in Australia.
  • To succeed in the chosen course, students should have completed relevant subjects in senior high school or other qualifications.

English Language Requirements

  • The following level of English is required to gain admission to this program:
    • IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall, with 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
    • TOEFL (Internet-based): 70 overall, with 18 in Reading, 18 in Writing, 17 in Listening, and 17 in Speaking.
    • UOW College: English for Tertiary Studies: Pass (weighted average mark of 50 overall and minimum 50 in Academic Reading and Writing).

Workload

  • Full-Time Study Load: As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study.

Credit for Prior Learning

  • If students have completed prior studies or relevant professional experience, they can request course credit or subject exemptions to reduce the duration and cost of their program.
