Program Overview


Overview

The Bachelor of Medical and Health Sciences (Honours) degree is a one-year program designed to provide students with the skills to demonstrate excellence in research with a clear understanding of a research question in relation to current knowledge. This degree fosters abilities and skills to help students:

Entry Requirements

  • Students must have attained at least a credit average in subjects undertaken in a recognised, relevant undergraduate degree.
  • The Postgraduate Coordinator and prospective supervisor will determine whether a student’s 300-level subjects are appropriate for entry into the Honours program.
  • Applicants are required to complete a Project Proposal form prior to submitting their application, and attach the completed form as a supporting document.
  • Admission will depend on the availability of an appropriate supervisor, who must be identified by the applicant prior to applying for entry.

English Language Requirements

The following level of English is required to gain admission to this program:


  • IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
  • TOEFL (Internet-based): Overall score of 86, with a minimum of 18 in Reading, 18 in Writing, 17 in Listening, and 17 in Speaking.
  • UOW College: English for Tertiary Studies: Credit (weighted average mark of 65 overall and minimum 50 in Academic Reading and Writing).

Workload

As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study.

If you have completed prior studies or relevant professional experience, you can request course credit or subject exemptions to reduce the duration and cost of your program.
