Overview
The Bachelor of Primary Education is a nationally accredited qualification for employment as a Kindergarten to Year 6 teacher in the public and independent school systems. This degree focuses on educating the 'whole child' and promotes lifelong learning in children.
Program Details
- The program is delivered as an on-campus degree.
- It includes approximately 110 days of compulsory work-based placements, completed over 22 weeks (totaling 770 hours) throughout the degree.
- Placements usually occur in Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, and Southern and South Western Sydney schools.
- Students can also apply for ‘out-of-area’ (rural NSW) or overseas professional experiences.
- Each student must complete placements in at least two different schools.

Accreditation & Professional Recognition
This degree is accredited and recognised as a national professional teaching qualification. All students will receive a national English/Literacy specialisation on successful completion of the program. A NSW specialisation in Mathematics/Numeracy is also available to students with relevant interest and aptitude.
Admissions Information
- Academic Entry Requirements: Applicants must achieve the required score in a previous qualification, equivalent to completing at least 13 years of schooling in Australia.
- English Language Requirements:
- IELTS Academic: 7.5 overall, with 7.0 in Reading, 7.0 in Writing, 8.0 in Listening, and 8.0 in Speaking.
- TOEFL (Internet-based): 106 overall, with 25 in Reading, 25 in Writing, 28 in Listening, and 27 in Speaking.
- Compulsory Work-Based Placement: This course contains approximately 110 days of compulsory work-based placements.
- Record Check: New enrolling students will be required to complete the new online Working with Children Check and clearance must be obtained prior to attending Professional Experience.
