Program Overview


Master of Earth and Environmental Sciences

The Master of Earth and Environmental Sciences is for students who wish to extend their knowledge and diversify their skill base within a range of sub-disciplines of the earth and environmental sciences, and in particular, environmental science, earth science, life sciences, and conservation.


Overview

The degree emphasizes the interconnectedness of the many sub-disciplines within the earth and environmental sciences, where content will be explored through the common core first-year subjects. The Master of Earth and Environmental Sciences is designed through the lens of global perspectives in science, where you will use drones, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, and coding in science data collection and analysis, and the responsible conduct of research. The program also integrates graduate work practice skills, allowing you to translate your skills into career-ready attributes.

Entry Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree that includes foundational subjects relevant to this degree.
  • English Language Requirements:
    • IELTS Academic: Overall Score 6.5, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, Listening 6.0, Speaking 6.0
    • TOEFL (Internet-based): Overall Score 86, Reading 18, Writing 18, Listening 17, Speaking 17
    • UOW College: English for Tertiary Studies: Credit (weighted average mark of 65 overall and minimum 50 in Academic Reading and Writing)

Workload

  • Full-Time Study Load: As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study. You may need to factor more time for examination study and practical work & placements.

Credit for Prior Learning

If you have completed prior studies or relevant professional experience, you can request course credit or subject exemptions to reduce the duration and cost of your program. Credit for prior learning evaluates your previous study or work experience related to your chosen subjects.
