Master of Information Technology (Information Systems Development)

The Master of Information Technology involves an in-depth study of the implementation and application of IT, including how to effectively manage the organisational, economic, regulatory and socio-technical issues that may arise.

Overview

As technology increasingly becomes more important to business performance, there is a growing demand for IT graduates with technical and business expertise. You will be introduced to fundamental concepts and core topics such as programming and data structures, data management systems, system analysis and project management, web development, strategic network design, and security, ethics, and professionalism.

This degree is suitable for those with and without an IT background seeking to develop the fundamental skills required to work in the sector, or to undertake a management role in which an understanding of IT implementation is essential. On completion, graduates will be able to work in various roles: IT analyst, solution designer/engineer, IT consultant, ICT project manager.

Information Systems Development (specialisation)

The information systems development specialisation will provide you with the knowledge and skills to use various tools, techniques, frameworks and methodologies in the process of information systems development. You will also develop an understanding of emerging technologies and security mechanisms used in the implementation of services.

This major is suitable for those with and without an IT background seeking to develop the fundamental skills required to work in the sector, or to undertake a management role in which an understanding of IT implementation is essential.

The Master of Information Technology is accredited by the Australian Computer Society as meeting the requirements for membership at the Professional Level.

• Entry Requirements: A recognised bachelor’s degree with an equivalent average mark of 60% in any area.
• Additional information: Applicants with other qualifications and substantial relevant professional experience may also be considered.

Workload

• Full-Time Study Load: As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study. You may need to factor more time for examination study and practical work & placements.

Credit for Prior Learning

If you have completed prior studies or relevant professional experience, you can request course credit or subject exemptions to reduce the duration and cost of your program.

Credit for prior learning evaluates your previous study or work experience related to your chosen subjects.
