Program Overview

Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health is a flexible one-year degree designed to provide a broad introduction to public health. You will engage in innovative learning experiences where you will gain advanced work-ready skills and develop a keen analytical and social lens to address issues of global health significance.

Overview

You will study four foundational (core) public health subjects, select elective subjects or complete a specialisation from the following:

  • Social Systems
    • Big Data and Decision Science
    • Indigenous Health
    • Public Health Practice
    • Public Health Research
    • Climate and Environment

Additionally, the Master of Public Health has a strong focus on Work Integrated Learning, industry connections, and practical placements (available through the public health practice specialisation), where you will put theoretical knowledge into practice. This degree can be studied via distance (domestic and offshore international students only) or flexible delivery (domestic and onshore international students only), which includes on-campus tutorials, typically scheduled for two hours every second week.

Public Health Practice (specialisation)

Throughout this major, you will apply public health values, knowledge and skills in workplace settings, apply critical thinking, and demonstrate leadership and advocacy to promote equitable public health practices.
