Program Description

Offering face-to-face learning with experienced CPA Professionals, the Master of Professional Accounting program is a comprehensive graduate-level accounting program that acts as a proven alternative route for students seeking the CPA designation in Canada. The program has a strong history of first-time pass rates from its M.P.Acc graduates on the Common Final Examination (CFE). It also gives students an opportunity to develop an appreciation for the academic research process and academia as a career choice.

Student Fees

Scholarships, Bursaries & Awards

The Edwards School of Business M.P.Acc Office administers scholarships and bursaries for both entering and continuing students. Approximately $90,000 is distributed to MPAcc students annually. Awards have specific criteria based on academic achievement and financial need and range in value up to $10,000.


Admission Requirements

  • Language Proficiency Requirements: Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants and for applicants whose first language is not English.
  • A cumulative weighted average of at least a 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (i.e., 60 credit units)
  • A four-year degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university
  • Adequate preparation in Canadian Accounting principles as demonstrated by successful completion of the appropriate university-level prerequisite courses as designated by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants for entrance into their Professional Education Program.

Submit an Online Application

During the application, you will be asked for:


  • Personal information such as your name, address, etc.
  • Contact information of your three referees
    • For your letters of recommendation, two of your referees must be academic contacts, and the third may be academic or professional
  • Your academic history from all post-secondary institutions you've attended

The application takes about 30 minutes to complete. You may save your application and return to it later as long as you remember the Login ID and PIN you've created.


At the end of the application, you will need to pay a non-refundable application fee: $125 for domestic students and $145 for international students.

Once you've submitted your online application, you will have access to upload your required documents and provide the contact information for your references.


Transcripts

  • Preliminary Statement of Marks: Upload unofficial PDF copies of your academic transcript(s) from each post-secondary institution attended.
  • Official copies of your transcripts will be required only for applicants offered admission.

Proof of English Language Proficiency (if required)

  • Completing a relevant test with the appropriate score is required before the application deadline.
  • Tests are valid for 24 months after the testing date and must be valid at the beginning of the student's first term of registration in the graduate program.

Curriculum Vitae or Resume

  • Your curriculum vitae or resume should be a one or two-page concise summary of your skills, experience, and education.

CPAWSB Transcript Assessment (if required)

Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies outside of Canada must have a transcript assessment completed by the CPA Western School of Business. The resulting CPAWSB Transcript Assessment document must be uploaded to your online application as part of the completed Admission Package.
