Bachelor's Degree in Economics
The Bachelor's Degree in Economics aims to ensure the acquisition of scientific knowledge fundamental to perform specialized functions in the field of economics. The perspective adopted is based on the development of basic skills capable of underpinning the critical spirit in order to support diversified professional paths.
General Objectives of the Course
The degree in Economics (LE) ensures training in Quantitative Methods and Management, as well as in areas complementary to economic and business sciences. The degree also aims to promote activities that ensure the integration of knowledge, teamwork, and the acquisition of transversal skills, allowing an approach to the future professional path.
Admission Requirements

- Entry exam: One of the following sets: 04 Economy, 19 Mathematics A, or 19 Mathematics A, 18 Portuguese

Examination Regulations, Assessment, and Grading
Assessment is a pedagogical activity closely associated with teaching, intended to evaluate the skills and knowledge acquired by students. The teaching and learning philosophy of the course favors periodic assessment, under the terms defined in the Academic Regulations of the University of Coimbra (RAUC), article 109. Possible elements of assessment include:
- Oral presentations in class
- Written or practical work
- Completion of projects, individual or group, which may have to be defended orally, in a maximum of three elements The classification of each student, for each curricular unit, is translated into a whole value between 0 and 20 points, and those students that obtain a minimum final classification of 10 points are considered approved.
Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
- Understand the economic reality based on a solid learning of fundamental knowledge in microeconomic and macroeconomic branches of economic science.
- Interpret the business reality through the understanding of fundamental concepts of Management and of knowledge in areas complementary to economic sciences, anchored in an ethical and sustainability perspective.
- Analyze data using concepts, methods, and techniques of statistics and econometrics using appropriate computer tools.
- Apply knowledge in projects of analysis of the economic and business reality, demonstrating ability to work in a team, oral and written communication skills, and understanding of the global economic context.
- Establish a path of development of transversal skills oriented to the future professional path in an internationalized context, within FEUC's ecosystem of opportunities.

Graduation Requirements
The Bachelor’s Degree in Economics is a 3-year-long course (six semesters) and is awarded to the students who complete 180 ECTS credits, which are shared among mandatory curricular units (138 ECTS credits) and optional curricular units (42 ECTS credits).

Bachelor's graduates in Economics have competences for applying to 2nd cycle studies.
