The Training course in Advanced Methods in Aquatic Ecology is designed to transfer practical knowledge on advanced methods that can be used in different areas of specialization related to Aquatic Ecology and also to Environmental Sciences.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

• Understand the most advanced techniques that can be used in research in aquatic ecology.
• Know the basic principles, equipment, and material needed and how to use these techniques. The course intends to help students acquire:
  • Instrumental skills, such as analysis and synthesis, organization and planning, oral and written communication, use of computer tools in the scope of bibliographic search and meta-analysis, management of information, decision-making ability, and problem-solving.
  • Personal and interpersonal skills, such as skills in group work and in interdisciplinary teamwork, critical thinking, and understanding of specialists’ language.
  • Systemic skills, such as skills in autonomous learning, searching, practical application of theoretical knowledge, planning, self-criticism, and self-assessment. The course also aims to promote creativity, rigor, and quality.
