Program Overview


Program Overview

The Global and Regional Governance course is a 15-credit program offered at Umeå University. The course provides both a general overview and specialization in the field of global and regional governance.


Course Description

The purpose of the course is to discuss contemporary theories of globalization, regionalization, and multilevel governance. It addresses conditions for governance on global and regional levels, as well as changes in the governing of the traditional nation-state and its democratic structures. The course aims to develop knowledge and competence relevant to employment at various administrative levels in Sweden and abroad. It also prepares students for further academic studies at the Ph.D. level.


Eligibility

To be eligible for the course, students must have:


  • 90 credits in Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, or equivalent, including a thesis of 15 credits.
  • Proficiency in English equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary course English 6.
  • Where the language of instruction is Swedish, applicants must prove proficiency in Swedish to the level required for basic eligibility for higher studies.

Selection

Selection is based on academic credits.

As a citizen of a country outside the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland, students are required to pay application and tuition fees for studies at Umeå University.
