Program Overview

The Medicine with applications in Biomedical Engineering course provides an orientation in anatomical and physiological concepts, with examples from biomedical engineering used in healthcare. This course aims to provide familiarity with medical terminology when reading medical literature and/or communicating with healthcare personnel.

Course Structure

  • Eligibility: Basic measurement technology 7.5 credits or basic electronics 7.5 credits or equivalent. English A/6 and Swedish for basic eligibility for university studies if the education is given in Swedish.

Course Description

The course covers the structure of the human body and the function of vital organs as well as the cell structure and kinetics. It also introduces ethical concepts in medical research and gives an introduction to tumour diseases, tumour induction, cancer incidence, and oncological treatment strategies. Laboratory work is done to highlight biomedical engineering applications and physiological principles. The course includes a group project where students work together to solve a medical problem with a technical approach.
