Microbiology and Basic Molecular Biology

The Microbiology and Basic Molecular Biology program is a 15-credit course that covers the molecular processes governing growth, structure, and function in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. The course focuses on genetic information flow according to the central dogma, regulation of DNA replication, transcription, and translation, as well as fundamental prokaryotic genetics and bacterial physiology.

• Module 2: Laboratory Work (5 ECTS): This module provides training in microbiological and molecular biological techniques.
• Module 3: Practical Professional Training (PPT) - Oral Presentation (2 ECTS): This module provides training in searching, reading, discussing, and presenting scientific literature in microbiology and molecular biology.

• Eligibility: 20 ECTS from finished courses in Chemistry, including at least 5 ECTS in Biochemistry, or alternatively, 20 ECTS from a combination of finished courses in Chemistry and Physics and/or Mathematics, including at least 5 ECTS in Biochemistry.
