Introduction to the Classical Studies Program
The Classical Studies program at Jagiellonian University is focused on languages, literature, and cultures of ancient Greece and Rome, which constitute the foundation of European cultural identity. This program is dedicated to individuals with linguistic and humanistic interests.
Program Description
Studies in antiquity have been conducted at Jagiellonian University since the beginning of the 15th century. The Classical Studies program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of classical languages, literature, culture, and political history of ancient Greece and Rome, as well as the basics of palaeography, literary studies, linguistics, and history of philosophy.

Faculty of Philology
The Faculty of Philology offers over 20 philologies and teaches as many as 50 languages. It has the A scientific category awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The faculty's programs lead in the Ranking of Study Programmes prepared by the ‘Perspektywy’ Education Foundation.
