International Security and Development

Programme Description

The International Security and Development (ISAD) programme at Jagiellonian University aims to foster creative thinking about complex problems of global security and development. It equips students with analytical tools, language expertise, and cross-cultural understanding, as well as professional skills needed for managing global security and development in an international environment. The two-year master's programme is run by both international experts and lecturers from the Jagiellonian University, with academic courses taught in English and an additional second foreign language.

Programme Details

The programme includes professional traineeships and workshops with experts. It has two academic tracks (specializations): international security and crisis management, as well as development and security. ISAD as an innovative project was awarded a grant by the Polish National Centre for Research and Development and is co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund.


Faculty Information

The Faculty of International and Political Studies is the most international and interdisciplinary unit at the Jagiellonian University. It offers unique courses in English, many of which are implemented under agreements with foreign universities. The faculty allows students to study in a nationally and culturally diverse environment, both in Polish and foreign languages.


Curriculum Overview

The programme curriculum provides information about the subjects students will attend, including which subjects are scheduled for each semester, mandatory subjects, elective subjects, and subjects that end with an exam. Each subject has its syllabus, describing what students learn within the scope of that subject.
