Oriental Philology—Iranian Philology

The Oriental Philology—Iranian Philology study programme is conducted in the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Faculty of Philology, Jagiellonian University. This programme focuses on the Persian language, which is used by approximately 100 million people worldwide, and provides a gateway to understanding the rich culture of the Iranian world, including Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan.

Programme Description

The programme explores the language, literature, culture, political science, and religion of the Iranian world. Students learn Persian and English, with the second-cycle programme also including Kurdish. The Faculty of Philology offers over 20 philologies and teaches 50 languages, making it a hub for linguistic and cultural studies.
