Introduction to the Polish-French Double Degree Programme
The Polish-French double degree programme is a two-year programme jointly run by the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques at the University of Strasbourg. This programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a degree in European Studies, with a focus on Polish-French relations.
Programme Structure
The programme is divided into two years, with the first year taking place at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the second year at the University of Strasbourg. The first year of the programme includes core courses, specialisations, and electives, all taught in English. Students also have the option to take elective courses in Polish.
Second Year at the University of Strasbourg
The second year of the programme takes place at the University of Strasbourg, where teaching is proposed in French. The programme is an integral part of the Master in “Politiques européennes” and offers lectures and seminars that deal with European issues as well as Franco-Polish relations.
Recruitment Process
Recruitment for the programme covers two phases:
- The application procedure for Polish programmes at the Institute of European Studies
- A subsequent interview (in English and French) by the commission that ultimately decides on admission to the programme
Competencies Gained
Students who successfully complete the programme receive two degrees:
- Master Politiques européennes in the discipline of Sciences politiques et sociales at the University of Strasbourg
- Master of European Studies from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow
Admission Procedure
To be admitted to the programme, candidates must first be admitted and enrolled in the Polish MA programme (any specialisation) at the Institute of European Studies. They will then be invited to individual interviews to be held in both languages of the programme: English and French.
Required Documents
After admission to the Polish programme, candidates must submit the following documents:
- Letter of motivation in English or French
- International certificates confirming knowledge of English and French at a level of at least C1, or transcripts of grades (BA or MA level) confirming examinations in these languages at the expected (C1) level
Admission Timeline
The candidates to the Polish-French double degree programme are asked to submit all required documents by 19 September 2025 (12:00, Friday). The candidates will be invited by email on 22 September (Monday) to individual interviews to be held online (MS Teams) on 23 September (Tuesday) in the morning.
Additional Information
The admitted students will be obliged to participate in the ‘orientation days’ organised by the Institute of European Studies. The date of the event is to be defined.
