Digital Arts Honours Degree
The Digital Arts Honours Degree is a research and coursework programme that can be taken in three subject areas: Animation, Interactive Media, Interactivity & Writing, or Game Design. The degree can be taken part-time over two years or full-time in one year.
Overview
The Digital Arts Honours programme introduces students to key debates in current theory, along with practice courses in their chosen field. Students will also have the opportunity to take their interests further in a supervised research project.
The coursework programme includes:
- A one-year-long research project (Research Project in Digital Arts)
- A one-year-long creative project (Digital Arts Project)
- A semester-long theory course (Digital Arts Theory)
- One practice course in either Animation, Gaming, or Interactivity, taken at either the introductory or advanced level, based on the applicant's academic history or experience in the respective field.
Entry Requirements
- Previous Degree: NQF level 7
- Marks Transcript from Previous Degree: Marks 65% or above, or very good practice portfolio allowing for marks in theory at 60% or above.
- Creative Portfolio & CV: Evidence of previous degree or experience in Animation, Interactivity, Game Design, or Interactive Writing, along with a portfolio of creative work reflecting practice in these areas.
- RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) Applications: Applicants with extensive industry experience may apply for RPL, but must meet additional entry requirements, including being 26 years old or over and completing a bridging year with specific courses.
University Application Process
Applications are handled centrally by the Student Enrolment Centre. Once an application is complete, it will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
