Program Overview
Applied Mathematics MSc Program
The Applied Mathematics MSc program at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) offers a comprehensive education in various areas of applied mathematics. The program aims to develop students' mathematical skills to solve industrial and real-life problems in innovative ways.
Program Structure
The program is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge of applied mathematics, covering topics such as statistical methods, financial mathematics, code theory, and numerical methods. The program consists of:
- Basic courses (at least 18 credits)
- Core courses (at least 24 credits)
- Differentiated courses (at least 40 credits)
- Modelling activities, including a compulsory Modelling project (6 credits) and a freely chosen Modelling week
- A thesis (worth 20 credits) to be written at the end of the studies
- 6 credits that can be chosen freely from the list of all subjects offered to MSc students in mathematics and applied mathematics

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must have:
- A BSc degree in Mathematics or a related field (Physics, Computer Science, Engineering) with at least 65 credits in Mathematics
- An internationally accredited language examination with at least a B2 CEFR level or equivalent result
- Examples of minimum level accepted: TOEFL iBT 72 pts, IELTS 5.5
- Alternatively, an official certificate issued by the applicant's previous higher education institution can be accepted, stating that the applicant's previous education (Bachelor's degree) was completed entirely in English
Tuition Fees
- EU/EEA students: 4190 EUR per semester
- Non-EU/EEA students: 4190 EUR per semester
- Application fee: 160 EUR
Application Procedure
The application process starts in the online application system, where students need to register, fill in the online application form, upload the required documents, and follow the instructions. The required documents include:

Entrance Examination and Selection Process
The applications are examined by the Admission Board, and applicants are notified of the outcome of the selection within two or three weeks. The entrance examination consists of a written test and a Skype interview. The ranking is based on a total evaluation of the academic excellence and the results of the entrance exam.
