Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the Meteorology MSc program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Earth Science, Physics, or Environmental Science with a specialization in Meteorology.
  • Alternatively, Bachelor's degrees in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, and Earth Science Engineering can be accepted if the applicant has at least 50 credits in specific fields, including geology, mathematics, physics, computer science, and meteorology.
  • An internationally accredited language examination is required with at least a B2 CEFR level or equivalent result.
  • Examples of minimum levels accepted include TOEFL iBT 72 points and IELTS 5.5.

Tuition Fees and Application Procedure

  • The tuition fee per semester is 4,190 EUR for both EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA students.
  • The application fee is 160 EUR (non-refundable).
  • The application procedure involves registering in the online application system, filling out the online application form, uploading required documents, and following the instructions during the application process.
  • A prerequisite of the application is the establishment of a Skype interview where the student must prove sufficient theoretical knowledge to start the Master's program and keep pace with Hungarian students. Fluid English communication is expected for successful application.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Meteorology MSc program can pursue careers in various fields, including:

  • Operational weather forecasting at national meteorological services, military and commercial airports, and in the public sector.
  • Research at national meteorological services and research institutes.
  • PhD studies and university professorial jobs.
  • Environmental analysis in the public sector.

The degree enables students to understand and forecast weather events, use and visualize results of climate and weather forecast models, and assess model results and measurements related to meteorology.
