Program Overview
Serbian Language and Literature MA
The Serbian Language and Literature MA program is designed to prepare students to become well-trained specialists in Serbian philology. The program aims to provide comprehensive knowledge of Serbian literature from its early period to date in a European context, as well as extensive knowledge of Serbian grammar and the history of the Serbian language.
Program Structure
The MA program consists of a basic common component compulsory (60 credits) and an optional specialization (22 credits). The program ends with a thesis on a chosen subfield of Serbian philology. Note that the program does not offer teaching qualifications.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the program can work as specialists of Serbian philology in the economic, cultural, political, or social field. There are many opportunities for young professionals with an excellent command of Serbian and a good understanding of the Serbian culture, as well as of the historical, economic, and social trends in contemporary Serbia.
Strength of Program
The program's strength lies in its flexible structure, which meets the needs of students with various interests. The department staff's scholarly achievements, including regular participation in national and international conferences, organized international conferences on Slavistics, and numerous publications, also contribute to the program's strength.
Career Opportunities
Students graduating from the university with an MA degree in Serbian Studies have an opportunity to work for Serbian or Hungarian joint companies, in the field of culture or the educational sector, in the tourist industry, or to find employment related to the cooperation between Serbia and Hungary in a broader sense. Graduates can also engage in an academic career and, after completing their doctoral training and the successful defense of the doctoral dissertation, obtain a PhD degree.
