Program Overview

The Sociology BA program at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) aims to train professional sociologists at the bachelor level. The program focuses on providing students with a solid grasp of sociology concepts and principles, as well as mastering its methods. Application Fee

  • The application fee is non-refundable and varies depending on the application period:
    • 50 EUR between October 1, 2025, and November 11, 2025
    • 100 EUR between November 20, 2025, and January 1, 2026
    • 150 EUR between January 20, 2026, and April 4, 2026
    • 200 EUR between May 5, 2026, and May 31, 2026

Entry Requirements

Applicants need to submit their secondary school certificate and records of the final two years in secondary school.


Language Requirements

  • Certification of English knowledge (both written and oral): B2
  • IELTS Score: 5.5
  • TOEFL IBT Band: 46-59
  • Cambridge English Scale Score: 162
  • If the applicant does not have any of the above certifications, their English proficiency will be assessed based on the admission video.

Application Procedure

The application starts in the online application system. Students need to register in the system, fill in the online application form, upload the required documents, and follow the instructions during the application process.


Entrance Examination and Selection Process

  • The application deadline refers to the final submission of the complete application package through the online system.
  • There are four application periods:
    1. Super Early Bird Period: October 1, 2025 - November 15, 2025
    2. Early Bird Period: November 20, 2025 - January 15, 2026
    3. Regular Period: January 20, 2026 - April 30, 2026
    4. Last Call Period: May 5, 2026 - May 31, 2026
  • After each application deadline, the Admission Board reviews the application.
  • After uploading the videos, applicants are informed of the selection outcome through the online application system within approximately one month.
  • If the offer is accepted, admission letters are sent out through the online application system as soon as possible.

  • Further details of the entrance exam: Applicants are expected to prepare an approximately 5-6 minutes long video in which they speak about social problems they experience around them, in their personal life and in their society, and discuss the potential causes of these phenomena.

Further Details of Selection and Evaluation

  • The institutional admission scores are based on a total evaluation of academic excellence (based on the submitted documents) and the results of the entrance exam (video).
  • The entrance exam seeks to assess the general and professional knowledge and interest of the applicant.
  • A successful oral entrance exam is the prerequisite of getting admitted. If the applicant fails the oral entrance exam, the application will be rejected.
