Financial Mathematics BSc (Hons)
The Financial Mathematics BSc (Hons) course equips students with a solid foundation in both mathematics and finance, blending theory and practical skills, with the option of a placement year for hands-on experience.
Overview
This course provides students with an introduction to underpinning financial concepts, including the financial system, interest rate theory, foreign exchange rate dynamics, and the operation of the money, fixed income, and equity markets. Students will learn about financial instruments, including collective investments and socially responsible investments, and will be introduced to the concepts of utility, stock market efficiency, portfolio theory, and the capital asset pricing model (CAPM).
Entry Requirements
- Standard Entry: 96 to 112 Tariff Points from a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications, which may include A-level, T Level, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.
- Subject Requirements: Grade B in an A-level Mathematics, or a recognized equivalent.
- GCSE Requirements: Maths and English Language at minimum grade 4/C, or an equivalent.
- International Qualifications: The university welcomes applicants with a range of qualifications from outside the UK.
- English Language Requirements: International applicants should have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each component (or an approved equivalent).
Fees and Funding

- International Fee in Year 1: £19,850.
