Program Overview


Program Overview

The Advanced Engineering Management (Construction Management) MSc program at the University of Birmingham is designed to equip students with the advanced skills necessary to lead in the global construction industry. This program combines concepts from management with engineering principles, preparing students for leadership positions in both management and technical roles.


Course Structure

The program is a 1-year full-time taught master's degree (180 credits) consisting of 120 credits of taught modules and a 60-credit research project. The course can also be taken over 2-3 years part-time.


Autumn Term

In the autumn term, students develop a firm base of general knowledge and techniques for further specialized management study. Delivered by leading academics in Birmingham Business School, the management content is based on real-world examples.


Spring Term

Entry Requirements

To gain a place at Birmingham, applicants must meet the general entry requirements, as well as those specific to the course. The typical entry requirement is a 2:2 Honours Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Maths, or Technology-based subjects from a recognized institution.


English Language Requirements

International students must demonstrate a suitable level of English proficiency, usually through the form of an IELTS or equivalent qualification.


Fees and Scholarships

The University tuition fee covers the cost of tuition, supervision, assessment, and includes membership to the Guild of Students. The fees for 2026 entry are:


  • £11,250 (full-time)
  • £3,750 (3-year part-time)

The University offers a range of scholarships, including the Birmingham Masters Scholarship, which awards £3,000 to more than 300 students each year.
