Program Overview

The Applied Leadership and Management course is designed for early-career nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals to develop into confident and capable leaders. This dynamic program combines cutting-edge leadership theory, real-world healthcare policy, and hands-on application in clinical settings.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of the use of evidence-based practice to underpin healthcare improvement.
  • Critically reflect upon, and use, principles of leadership, team working, and change to influence improvements in person-centred care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate, report, and rationalise to a peer and professional audience the outcomes from undertaking a quality improvement project.

Course Delivery

  • Course Dates: 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th March, 1st and 22nd April
  • Submission Deadline for Assessment: 20th May 2026
  • Assessment: A Service Improvement Proposal totalling 3000 words or a recorded audio PowerPoint presentation equivalent to 20 mins (max 15 slides).

    • Microcredential (Home): £1,211
    • Non-credit: £1,011.20
  • Note: This program is not open to International students.

Application Process

  • Application Deadline:
    • Applicants eligible for Home fees: a minimum of 6 weeks before the module start date.
    • Applicants eligible for Overseas fees: a minimum of 3 months before the module start date.
  • Note: Once registered for the microcredential, you cannot swap for the non-credit short course version. Similarly, if you apply for the non-credit short course, you cannot swap to the microcredential version once registered.
